The Ristoro l’Antica Scuderia restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy traditional Tuscan food with a creative touch. Its setting is also incredibly beautiful: a white road through the hills, the Abbey of Passignano, dark green cypresses, the shade of its garden.
In ancient times it was a place for riders to stop and rest their horses before setting off once more on their journey.
Today, after careful restoration, Maria and Stefano’s restaurant is where the old stables used to be, a suggestive and sophisticated place to eat, not far from Florence, in the heart of Chianti.
The restaurant opened in 2008 and since then has been completely transformed because the philosophy of Maria, executive chef, and her husband Stefano, manager of the restaurant’s prestigious wine cellar, is that the best food deserves to be served in a carefully designed and stylish environment. There is an attention to detail in everything, from the tables made from precious Vassalletti wood, to the tone of the walls, to the refined tableware and the elegant decor.

Spending a few hours in the shade of the Abbey of Passignano is a real pleasure, thanks also to the many events and cooking courses organised by the restaurant. The dream has grown over the years; Maria and Stefano’s daughter, Elena, works with her parents every day, together with an extended family of chefs and servers.

Behind the facade of Ristoro L’Antica Scuderia are Maria and Stefano, with their two decades of experience in restauranteering, and their daughter Elena, who is following in their footsteps. But there’s also the kitchen brigade, for years composed of the same people, including a ‘mother chef’ and son duo sharing a passion for good food. A close-knit staff – a rarity in the restaurant sector – that cooks for you every day with love and commitment to their work.
